Barney - Sing and Dance with Barney ASIN: 1571323767
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: My daughter's favorite!
Comments: My daughter has been watching this video since she was about 10 months old and at 20 months it is still her favorite! She now has started singing along, does the hand motions and has a strange infatuation for Michael, the blond boy - when he comes on and starts talking about how Barney helped him learn the cello, she gets all excited and croons like she was an Elvis groupie or something! Sometimes she gets all shy and even blushes...It is SO bizarre! : )
This tape has a good balance of dancing and singing - one of the best Barney tapes by far!

Sesame Street - Get Up and Dance ASIN: 6304279485
Customer's Rating: 2 Summary: Not as good as other sesame street videos
Comments: The fun of watching Sesame Street videos is that they are often as entertaining for the adults as for the children. This video got old on the first viewing. The reason? Celina. She was chewing the scenery and her loud screechy voice and off key signing made me run for the remote. Unlike other Sesame Street live actors who let the muppets do their thing, Celina seems intent on taking center stage and manages to overwhelm both the muppets and the room full of kids. My mom, who was in the other room, remarked "her voice gets on my nerves". My son wanted to me to stop the video and put in another Sesame Street video. Gladly. The good things? There were a few muppet songs that appear on other tapes and Sesame street always has a multicultural cast. Parents, you don't want to watch this one over and over.

The Wiggles - Dance Party ASIN: B000059HEQ
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: Don't let the inexpensive recording fool you
Comments: It's fun to see how far this group has come. This very early video features Anthony in a green collared shirt playing both himself and Captain Feathersword. The scenery is obviously painted and taped together (you can see the cardboard lines!), and the recording studio is dull and under-lighted. But, fear not, the music is superb. It was these songs, remember, that made the Wiggles the big stars they are today. So put away your negative comments of the production and be a kid...just enjoy the show!

Learn Nutcracker Ballet Dances with Me ASIN: B000055WDZ
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: Great choreography for children
Comments: This video is excellent. I am always looking for fresh, new ideas and this video gave that to me. I attended a very prestigious ballet school and danced with its company. I now own and teach at my own ballet school. The instructor is extremly knowledgeable and well trained. The children featured in the video are probably 7/8 and the dances they demonstrate are great for ages 6-10. They are very easy to teach and easy for the student to learn. A nice break from what we do each week at our own school.

I Can Dance - Introduction to Ballet for Children ASIN: 6302560373
Customer's Rating: 4 Summary: A Clear "Introduction to Ballet"
Comments: Debra Maxwell teaches a small ballet class of grade-school children, one of whom is new to the class. She explains the terms and shows precisely how to move the arms and feet. The five basic positions are taught, as well as some barre work and center work. The video is, indeed, only a bare introduction, but it's a great joy for my 5 year old to use daily. I appreciate the teacher's attitude toward the children in the class, expecting good work, but still being supportive of their beginning efforts. Some brief segments of accomplished adult dancers are included.

Ballerina, Ballerina! ASIN: 6303435513
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: First Rate Video-A Must See!
Comments: This video was beautifully done. The 25 minute video was fascinating to me as an adult and I know children would love it too. The producers did a very good job of showing the different aspects of practice and preparation ballerinas go through before they perform. The two professional ballerinas are sisters Rachel and Rebecca Carmazzi. They are beautiful, graceful, and fun to watch. Even though most people watching the video wouldn't notice, I have to mention that their technique and skills are brilliant, technically correct and first class. Children will enjoy seeing them put up their hair and put on their shoes before class. The parts of the ballet class are also broken down very well. There are barre exercises, center exercises, jumping and even a demonstration of spotting their head when they practice turns. There is a segment on dancing with a partner, costume fitting and performing a ballet. There is also a segment on teaching ballet and it shows small children having fun in a class. It was interesting and wonderful to see both a boy, and a child in a wheelchair participating in the the activities. I would recommend this wonderful video to anyone and everyone remotely interested in ballet. I think children will be fascinated and ask to see it again and again! Bravo!
