Reiki: The Healing Touch
ASIN: 1886785058

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent course manual
Comments: I highly recommend this book to all Reiki Masters, and to those students who feel like their Reiki I and/or II training lacked depth and clarity. I have to disagree with the previous few reviewers who slammed the book for being too oriented towards the author's healing center. The book has pages and pages of diagrams of hand positions, both for self-treatment and the treatment of others, useful articles on how to develop your own Reiki practice, updated history on where Reiki comes from, a chapter on how to use the symbols (and very few books show the actual symbols, so if you want the symbols then buy the other books), as well as good general information on what Reiki is. It does have one chapter on the author's school of teaching, so you can just skip that chapter if it doesn't interest you. And it does have a "catalog" of items you can buy from his Center...but it is in the appendix where it belongs. And throughout the manual he stresses that Reiki is open to all and it isn't required that you go to his Center for training. He simply offers his Center as a resource if you want it. He also shares a list of related books that have nothing to do with him or his Center. This book is a valuable resource. Not a be-all/end-all for Reiki, but the best manual for Reiki I and II that you will find anywhere! I use it for my classes and I am not affiliated with the author or his Center. It is also not the only book on Reiki that I own. This is just a great place to get a strong foundation of information in a few pages.

ASIN: 060980734X

Healing Touch: A Guide Book for Practitioners, 2nd edition
ASIN: 0766825191

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Absoluttely essential resource for any "hands-on" healer.
Comments: No need for 1,000 more words. The above says it all. I loaned my copy to a client, forgot which one, and now must buy another. Can't practice without it.
Touch of Healing
ASIN: 0553377841

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: The Healing is Within Your Hands
Comments: I had been bed-bound for a year, when I bought this book. It is laid out in a logical way, with clear instructions and pictures. When I needed to do a sequence I drew stick figures using red circles for right and green for left pressure points on recipe cards. It was easier to follow than the written step-by-step on a day to day basis. You can look up what to do by your symptoms OR by the type of emotional stress you've been thru - we are MIND+BODY+SPIRIT=all intertwined. Doing Jin Shin got me out of bed, and is balancing my body and mind! My last blood test was so balanced it was incredible/unbelievable. This book gives you what you need to heal/balance your body: addictions, cravings, pains, all manner of physical problems, headaches, itchy places, too hot, too cold, chronic fatigue, heart problems, lung problems, you name it, there is something you can do about it!
Reiki Energy Medicine: Bringing the Healing Touch into Home, Hospital and Hospice
ASIN: 0892816333

Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Good informational book for those in the Medical Profession
Comments: This is more a beginners guide to Reiki in the Medical Profession than anything else. Many of the ideas of where Reiki is from are outdated. Though for the most part the information is based on the Reiki tradition.
I was disappointed by the lack of in-depth techniques and information on HOW to apply Reiki in these situations. This is a "What is Reiki" and "How Reiki can benefit your profession" book. A beginners information guide again. Good for it's purpose.
The one thing I was upset by was the complete lack of discussion on the Ethics in Reiki. Even going so far as to tell people to do Reiki on people before asking permission. To me, a Reiki/Seichim Teacher the Ethics are some of the most important information to pass on.

The Complete Illustrated Guide to Shiatsu: The Japanese Healing Art of Touch for Health and Fitness
ASIN: 0007131143

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Comprehensive yet delightfully comprehensible
Comments: Elaine Liechti has done a wonderful job of sharing her passion and knowledge of shiatsu. This book is a complete, concise, yet easy-to-understand introduction to shiatsu; what it is, the history, the different schools of shiatsu, the basic principles, and how to do it. The book is well structured and has lots of diagrams, photos and illustrations to capture your interest. This book is certainly the most comprehensive and comprehensible book on shiatsu I have seen. Apart from one dismissive comment on acupuncture, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in shiatsu.
Accepting Your Power to Heal: The Personal Practice of Therapeutic Touch
ASIN: 1879181045

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Accepting Your Power to Heal
Comments: Therapeutic Touch involves using your hands to heal all living beings by "consciously directing or sensitively modulating human energies." It doesn't require physical contact. Therapeutic Touch is based on several principles, two of which are "illness is an imbalance in an individual's energy field" and "human beings have natural abilities to transform and transcend their conditions of living."
Therapeutic Touch was developed and refined by Dr. Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz, based on their studies of ancient healing practices. They've since taught the procedure to thousands of health care practitioners and laypersons.
Dr. Krieger's book, Accepting Your Power to Heal: The Personal Practice of Therapeutic Touch, teaches readers how help themselves and their loved ones with Therapeutic Touch. The process involves "centering" yourself, then becoming sensitive to the energy fields all living beings have.
Therapeutic Touch can be used to help people relax, to reduce pain, and accelerate healing. Dr. Krieger provides numerous examples of benefits, including relief from the pain of cancer, headaches, burns, and fractured bones. Therapeutic Touch is also helpful to pregnant women and people suffering from chronic conditions like asthma. Some people have also used it to help their pets, while others have used it in their gardens.
Accepting Your Power to Heal has been on the book stands for several years. The method outlined in it has been proven time and again to be beneficial to people suffering from various illnesses, including AIDS. Readers "who are committed to helping or healing persons in need" will find it to be an invaluable resource.
Quantum Touch: The Power to Heal
ASIN: 155643393X

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Quantum Touch = Quantum Healing
Comments: "Quantum-Touch" is a powerful book. I have used energy healing techniques for over 23 years, and after applying the easy and accessible techniques in this book I have increased my capacity dramatically in just the first few weeks. The book is written in easy to understand language that demystifies healing energy work. I cannot say enough good things about this book and the author. I was fortunate enough, after reading the book, to attend a workshop presented by Richard Gordon. I found him to be sincere and dedicated to the idea that we all possess the power to heal and if given the chance we will use it. I encourage anyone interested in life and health to read this book. It not only contains wonderful and simple techniques, it also contains invaluable information for general health and well-being all presented with humor and love. Buy it, read it, use it and spread the word, we are ALL healers.

Designed especially for hands-on therapists and a highly recommended addition to Alternative Medicine reference collections and reading lists, Therapeutic Touch As Transpersonal Healing offers a an accessible and superbly organized body of practical information, useful guidelines, and invaluable resources for anyone with an interest in learning about this remarkable, gentle, non-invasive healing technique for repairing and maintaining human health.
Reiki: Beyond the Usui System
ASIN: 0964082225

Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Inspiring
Comments: An inspiring book on the authoress' view on Reiki. She describes some meditative practices that are interesting and rewarding, among them a meditation where you get to meet Usui, Hayashi and Takata. The book also contains influences from Shamanism with the exorcism of entities and energies. Where Diane Stein fails completely (IMHO) with her fear of psychic attacks in her book on "Essential Reiki", Karyn Mitchell takes an entirely different approach and, instead of continuing to build up fear, shows us how to deal with it rather than add to the problem. This is great.
The only downside I found with this book was the chapter on manipulation of food which to me felt out of place and sounded very exaggerated. Even though Mitchell is trying to be informative this really takes the rate down for me. Maybe we don't have the same problems with food manipulations here in Sweden... at least not yet and never will I hope.
I enjoyed this book and since I read this book about 2 years ago my Reiki path have moved into Tibetan mysticism and Zen so I really look forward to reading "Reiki Mystery School" by the same author.

Reiki and Other Rays of Touch Healing
ASIN: 1886903972

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent Book for healing
Comments: Reiki and Other Rays of Touch Healing by Kathleen Milner. A comprehensive manual on healing. The author gives concrete examples in both the use of symbols and a variety of healing techniques interwoven into her own healing processes (following two automobile accidents) and her subsequent work on the inner planes with higher beings. The book explains techniques that can be utilized to develop psychic abilities and how to achieve deeper levels of meditation, and then ties this in with the healing process and different mysticisms. Kathleen offers her readers a fresh, meaningful understanding of the history of Reiki combined with Jesus' teachings and related aspects of other spiritualisms. There are chapters dealing with the use of healing energy in ceremonial work and Feng Shui. There's also a chapter devoted to healing animals, including a story of how a horse was healed of blindness in two weeks.
Kathleen believes that all healing energy comes from the Creative, Loving Force behind this Universe, and the final chapter explains the dynamics of initiation into reiki and the other rays of touch healing. If you are a healer, or you're involved in the healing process, it is a source you may find yourself often referring to.
