The Natural Pharmacy, Revised
ASIN: 076151967X

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: TONS OF INFORMATION - VERY ORGANIZED
Comments: Wonderful book that explains all those pills you hear about on the news and in magazines. No hype - just great information. This book ROCKS for people who want info on what the heck all those vitamin/pill things are at the grocery store.
Healthy Healing - A Guide To Self Healing For Everyone - The Eleventh Edition
ASIN: 1884334881

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: "Best Health Book!"
Comments: This book has just been named the "Best Health Book" at the International New Age Trade Show in Denver. And, with good reason. This is the book that so many others are copying - Linda Page has been a leader in the world of natural healing for years. Her books are great - and this book is the BEST!
Encyclopedia of Homeopathy: The Definitive Home Reference Guide to Homeopathic Self-Help Remedies and Treatments for Common Ailments
ASIN: 0789456338

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Good book - more detailed and better looking than others
Comments: One of the more complete and well illustrated books available. This would suit a detail-oriented, inquisitive mind. DK also publishes simpler books on homeopathy and alternative medicine which would better suit those looking for an introduction. Why only 4-stars then? Well, the book is still incomplete for somebody looking to self-medicate (which is probably safe but a bad idea anyway), and I find that the description of how homeopathy works rather weak and unscientific. Although I know two people who claim to have been cured by it. There seems to be a tendency to pass off old, inadequate research as "good enough" -- well in this day and age I would expect better; the author is an MD after all. "Hair of cat" as a cure for cat allergies strikes me as similar to "hair of the dog" for hangovers (at least there was no eye-of-newt).
Organon of the Medical Art
ASIN: 1889613002

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Steven Decker is a genius
Comments: and his translation of the Organon has taken homeopathy and homeopathic prescribing light-years ahead in this work of art, edited by O'Reilly.
After a century or two of misunderstandings of Hahnemann's writings, at last there is a glimpse of Hahnemann's genial gift to mankind. I await further illumination of this medical system from Mr. Decker!
Pocket Manual of Homeopathic Materia Medica and Repertory
ASIN: 8170210038

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Amazon is selling the Indian edition
Comments: This is a great book and indispensable for the lay and professional practitioner alike. Note that Amazon is selling the Indian edition. The American edition has better binding, clearer print, is not as thick and costs more--a forewarning to those of you who expect the Amer. version, which is most common in health stores. Nonetheless, a great reference.
The Complete Homeopathy Handbook: A Guide to Everyday Health Care
ASIN: 0312063202

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Great for beginners
Comments: I am new to homeopathy and I have found this book to be so simple and easy to understand. It has helped me to understand why the Hyland's Teething Tablets aren't working for my son.
He needs a more defined and "classical" approach.
The Homeopathic Childbirth Manual: A Practical Guide for Labor, Birth, and the Immediate Postpartum Period
ASIN: 0964930498

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Wonderful book for midwives and pregnant women.
Comments: This book covers the homeopathic remedies that you can use during childbirth. Betty Idarius gives us a clear picture of each remedy, so that the symptoms are obvious when you see them. I've used this book extensively at births, and consider it to be the best book on childbirth homeopathy. I only wish she would write one about prenatal and postpartum homeopathy!
Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines: Safe and Effective Remedies for You and Your Family
ASIN: 0874778433

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Best quick reference
Comments: This book is my favorite homeopathic quick reference. I often find the right remedy just by looking in here and not digging further.
Homeopathic Psychology: Personality Profiles of the Major Constitutional Remedies
ASIN: 155643099X

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Facts and detail, but never dry!
Comments: A brilliant book! Every pupil should be given their own copy as a Rite of Passage at around 14 years of age and have to study one or two "types" per week such that the whole book would be covered in a year, and then this should be done every year whilst still at school. They don't have to learn anything about Homeopathy per se, only about people, and in so doing would develop more compassion and understanding of both themselves and others. This would beat any grounding in some of the modern subjects attempting to teach ethics/social behaviour/civics; half an hour a week in the curriculum and a couple of hours reading for a better balanced society! And it would be fun. The teenage pupils would realise that what's going on in their own minds is normal and would be able to understand their peers and elders far better for knowing what makes them tick! But this would probably be too threatening, especially for bureaucratic elders in politics and teaching, and here I'm thinking especially of kali-carbs amongst others! It would also teach the consequences of different behaviours, particularly of bad parenting and expose some dubious management practices for the perverted strategies they really are!
This book is extremely well written and accessible to everyone, while still being of enormous help to the professional. The standard repertories are great for the material body, but now we are entering a different age and there is a dire need for the mental and emotional sides of man to be categorised, understood and, where necessary, healed. Catherine Coulter helped significantly to illuminate the path with her outstanding "Portraits of Homoeopathic Medicines" which I wouldn't be without, Whitmont has written some very interesting books, now I have another brilliant, practical perspective. Here is a practitioner who has studied people's behaviour and homeopathy and really understands it as a living science, based firmly on empirical evidence.
A lovely book, a useful book, an accurate book, a fascinating book.
Well done, sir! Thank you.
Now let me get back to reading it!
10 Natural Remedies That Can Save Your Life
ASIN: 0385493509

Comments: This book is rather indept concerning just one of the remedies, and I know that it would be a valuable asset to others as well as myself.
Thank You.
Complete Guide to Homeopathy: The Principles and Practice of Treatment
ASIN: 0789459531

Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Beautiful presentation, but simplistic and not enough depth
Comments: Homeopathy is a very deep, complex subject. Evaluating a person for a homeopathic remedy is a painstaking and time-consuming process that cannot be shortcut if the subject concerned wants a remedy that will get to the root of the problem. Lockie's presentation in this book is graphically beautiful. I However, was put off because answers and explanations were so pat and simplistic. Also, there was no reason given behind some of the recommendations of substances to stay away from.
I particularly did not like the pictures of the remedy type persons -- beause I doubt it is so simple, and because during the course of treatment, a person can present symptoms that are addressed by a specific treatment, but these symptoms can then change and require a different treatment.
After years of homeopathic treatment of our entire family and dealing with very complex medical issues, I don't think that Lockie should encourage the layperson to try to cure him or herself. This can only lead to disaster and muddying the waters with regards to symptoms that will arise as a result of the various treatments that someone untrained in homeopathy is likely to try.
The Family Guide to Homeopathy: Symptoms and Natural Solutions
ASIN: 0671767712

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: A great intro to a worthy allopathic alternative
Comments: I received this book from a friend almost five years ago, and I continue to refer to it again and again. This is a wonderful reference for anyone interested in homeopathy, from the beginner looking for a proven alternative to allopathic medicine, to the more advanced homeopath who needs a good reference. This edition covers a myriad of ailments and gives clear, easy to understand explainations of the homeopathic remedies presented here. Highly recommended to those of you looking for a great homeopathic reference guide.
Comprehensive Cancer Care: Integrating Alternative, Complementary and Conventional Therapies
ASIN: 0738202843

Customer's Rating: 1
Summary: Another MUST read
Comments: Anyone who is interested in complementary medicine or natural medicines and cancer treatment should get John Boik's new book, Natural Compounds in Cancer Therapy. John presents the scientific evidence for all natural compounds, gives excellent educational backgrounds on vitamins and natural compounds, and is unfailingly honest. His work is a superb reference guide, as well as clarifying what may or may not be helpful. I have no connectio n with him, other than his help in curing my best friend of Stage IV non small cell lung cancer. This is not "alternative" medicine fru-fru.

Summary: One of a kind homeopathic healing guide.
Comments: Through a meticulous labor of love, Asa has produced a virtual musculoskeletal, textbook for chiropractors and physicians who are pursuing a course of natural health care for their patients. The heart of his book, the first of its kind, addresses the homeopathic solutions for musculoskeletal complaints commonly seen in our offices and commonly experienced by many people in the course of their lives. As Asa focuses our attention on the musculoskeletal keynotes and affinities of the homeopathic materia medica, easy to read illustrations and charts help us reach the homeopathic cure, (or similimum) for many acute and chronic conditions. Asa1s book has the potential to relieve much human suffering.

The book is divided in specific ailments, like fevers, bruises, ear infections (the real reason why I bought it), diaper rashes, etc. and gives you all the homeopathic medicine that would suit your child depending on his behaviour. Then there are all the medicines listed in alfabethical order where it explains what they are and they are for. An A++++ for Dana Ullmann . A Consumers Guide to Alternative Medicine: A Close Look at Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Faith-Healing, and Other Unconventional Treatments
ASIN: 0879757337

Customer's Rating: 1
Summary: Unconventional Bad, Conventional Good
Comments: Once again, someone is pointing the finger at alternative and natural medicine as ineffective at its best or fraudulent and "quackery" at its worst. I am interested in alternative medicine and wanted to know why certain alternative treatments are looked down upon by the medical community. This book is simply a finger-pointer with no content.
The authors often cite that the only people claiming that certain treatments or products work are those who stand to make money through distributing those same treatments or products. However, no one ever seems to point out that the medical and pharmaceutical industries stand to LOSE a lot of money if these alternative treatments and medicines are acknowledged to be valid forms of treatment.
Books like this only validate the idea that the medical community can't come up with solid evidence that these alternative medicines DON'T work. But the pharmaceutical companies can't patent natural products, so you do the math. I'll stick with my alternative treatments. At least you don't have to worry about them killing you if you misread the usage information on the label.
Homeopathic Remedies: A Quick and Easy Guide to Common Disorders and Their Homeopathic Treatments
ASIN: 089529950X

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Homeopathic Remedies
Comments: Dr. Hershoff has a dedicated view of homeopathy. He carefully brings the profound use of homeopathy and healing to light. The illustration and organization is complete, concise and comprehensive. Brilliant!
Everyday Miracles: Homeopathy in Action
ASIN: 1877691003

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: A clear explanation of how homeopathy heals.
Comments: This is one of the most clear, understandable explanations of how homeopathy works that I have ever read. It just simply makes sense! Dr. Johnston's analogies and metaphors on the amazing healing process of homeopathy are really helpful.
The book takes the confusion out of all the contradictory things I had heard about homeopathy. I never understood before why this system can cure conditions that conventional medicine can't help, and now I see how this is possible. It is so reassuring to know that Linda Johnston, coming from a conventional medical background, has so actively embraced the homeopathic medical system and shared her knowledge with us.
This book gives the readers a sound hope and confidence that they can get better! I strongly recommend this book. Anyone can benefit from reading it!
Homeopathic Medicine at Home: Natural Remedies for Everyday Ailments and Minor Injuries
ASIN: 0874771951

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent home reference
Comments: This is an excellent book overall and is the text for the National Center for Homeopathy's study group course. Dr. Panos gives verbose, anecdotal images of the differences between the different remedies for a given ailment, as well as good general background on homeopathy.
Feeling Younger with Homeopathic HGH (Expanded Edition)
ASIN: 1884820581

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Fascinating book!
Comments: I first saw this book sometime ago and noted that the book had Howard Turneys name on the cover in the expanded edition, I believe. He is known as The Father of HGH so that got me interested. Why would Turney write a statement for a book that seemingly advocates homeopathic Growth Hormone?I got the book through a freind that bought it from Amazon.com and found it to be in another realm that I had not previously examined -homeopathy.Being a resercher I found the facts and statements about homeopathic GH to be very informative and interesting.Being sceptical by nature,I ordered the HGH Turney takes from the company found in the book, only I obtained the Full Spectrum also.Frankly, the Full Spectrum is my fav'(sorry Turney!) as it has a compound I have studied for some time GHRH or Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone.I was amazed to read about GHRH in the book and that this dreamous co.had a homeopathic version.I think that the book is good for those that need a starter version on HGH -and like me-for people who don't know much,if anything ,about homeopathy(Amazon has books on this interesting subject) so they can have a better understanding.Dr.Klatz's book -sold on Amazon, certainly is the top book though on HGH.
Prozac-Free: Homeopathic Medicine for Depression, Anxiety, and Other Mental and Emotional Problems
ASIN: 0761514783

Customer's Rating: 1
Summary: What kind of Writing is this, Anyway?
Comments: "Prozac Free" by Reichenberg-Ullman, Judyth, N.D., and Ullman, Robert, as it would be listed in a search. After reading this book, I conclude that the title is inappropriate; it should be changed to "The Ullman's Book of Homespun Advice." The subtitle reads, "Homeopathic Medicine for Depression, Anxiety and other Mental and Emotional Problems." Full of vague, unspecific meanderings on case studies, it offers nothing more than opinions from authors with an education. For that reason, I found it objectionable in that they purport to have a BETTER opinion than the reader. If it was presented scientifically, and not strictly philosophically, then it would be more readily embraced. For example, the phrase "Get a Pet" on page 80 is recommended as a solution for relieving the effects of depression. Does anyone with a brain really need to be told or reminded that pets, in fact, do exist? Objection: sustained. Next, at Chapter 12, we see "Can I live Without Him?" What does this have to do with the book's title? Is this a book about living without Prozac, or is this a book about relationships, implying some sort of lesbian promotion. My assumption was correct. On page 137, we are told the story of a woman who left her husband and "established a successful relationship with another woman." Digressing of this sort is unacceptable, in that the author shifted perspectives from giving relatively worthless advice to supporting a deviant lifestyle, and also a person who apparently needed Vanadium to keep going. I'm sick of stuff like this coming off as normal, when thrown at the reader in an in-your-face style, and instantly I had to toss the book back to the library. I expected intelligent, focused writing, but all I found was overstatements of the obvious, chock full of cliches that most of us are tired of hearing. Who edited this thing anyway? Where's my red pen? As a writer and an editor myself, I feel that this book is unfit for publication.
Natural Alternatives to Antibiotics
ASIN: 0895298392

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Mother Earth cures
Comments: Natural alternatives, which are actually original cures. In the current medical community antibiotics are becoming less and less effective, for a number of reasons, so we need to return to the natural cures and old ways.
The problem with this is- who knows which herbs, how to use them, and what effects they have. This book is a great beginning resource. Written by Dr. John McKenna, he explains various methods for healing or treating.
This book contains case by case studies and results. It is not difficult to believe that nature works better than synthetic, it has always been that way.
I recommend this book, and studying Native American and Asian natural healing methods. Please be responsible when choosing the herbs recommended in this book. If possible, grow your own(organically) and replant. Mother nature supplies the ingredients, but we must replenish so that everyone may enjoy the benefits.
Enjoy the Natural Antibiotics book, pick one up for a friend while your at it!
Materia Poetica : Homeopathy In Verse
ASIN: 0966552407

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: This is a great book for learning and enjoying homeopathy.
Comments: In Materia Poetica, Sylvia expresses the feeling and the essence of homeopathic remedies in delightful poetry. It is a wonderful learning tool for students, and knowledgable homeoapths will appreciate it too.
Science of Homeopathy
ASIN: 0802151205

Customer's Rating: 2
Summary: An interested observer
Comments: This book is not quite what I thought it was - it gives me information that I already have but not the help that I need. I have been interested in homeopathy for years and have used it to some degree - I'll keep looking for more info.
Natural Medicine for Children: Drug-Free Health Care for Children from Birth to Age Twelve: A Practical, Comprehensive Guide to Herbs, Homeopathy,
ASIN: 0380758768

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Empowering Parents
Comments: Julian Scott provides concise relevant information for parents who want to know the why's and wherefores of their children's illnesses and how to treat them naturally. They are empowered with basics that are easily undertaken to help treat their child. Homeopathic Treatment of Children: Pediatric Constitutional Types
ASIN: 1556430906

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Required Reading for practicing homeopathic physicians
Comments: I'm a naturopathic medical student, studying homeopathy, and this book was indispensible at giving both a clear overall impression of the various major constitutional types, and also a detailed outline for reference at the end of each chapter. I know I will be using this book often in my practice. Not only does he draw from various sources (repertories and materia medica) but also adds indisoensable original information from his successful practice.
Homeopathic Pharmacy: An Introduction and Handbook
ASIN: 044305018X

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: BEST OF ITS KIND!
Comments: Professor Kayne is a respected expert in his field, and this thoroughly researched and infinitely readable text on what could easily become a dry and technical topic is an undoubted 'must have'. All aspects of homoeopathic pharmacy, and an introductory overview of the most important aspects of homoeopathic methodology and materia medica, are covered with liberal lashings of reason, wit and sincerity. I can think of no better reference text for the interested pharmacist - and, indeed, the serious homoeopath!
