Summary: relatively basic info before you see an iridologist
Comments: Easy-to-read and contains all the info I need before seeing an "iridologist." Found that self-test iridology section pretty cool. I've learnt quite a bit and am pretty interesting in becoming an iridologist myself. Shame about the iffy diagrams :(

Summary: Disappointing read.
Comments: This book truly is a disappointment. Way too oversimplified and overpriced for what you get. Other simple introductory texts by Bernanrd Jensen do a much better job at laying out iridology basics. I can't believe I actually just wrote that considering the lack of up-to-date European research NOT represented in the work of the late Dr. Jensen. Figures are low resolution hand drawings. Color plates of cases at the end of the book give no commentary whatsoever. Bamer is also unclear in describing certain iris configurations and should have included more detailed slides to help clarify his presentation. Also, the herbal and nutritional treatments are much too generalized to possibly be suitable for each and every person presenting with a given configuration (herbal medicine simply isn't practiced that way by traditional standards). Anyway, the only thing this book has going for it is a very brief introduction to sclerologic diagnosis -which is a relatively neglected science until recently. With about 30 large-font 5 1/2" x 8" pages devoted to this subject- including poor resolution hand drawn pictures- Bamer may have just as well omitted the subject from the book altogether. My suggestion: don't waste your money on this book. Instead, buy Jensen's much less expensive intro to iridology, Visions of Health or better yet, contact the National Iridology Research Association regarding iridology seminars. They're a great resource.

Summary: This is a good one!
Comments: I have been reading iridology books for several years now, and I think Dr Bernard Jensen is probably the best, but Dorothy Hall is right up there with him. Of all the books I've seen by authors other than Dr Jensen, this book by Dorothy Hall is certainly the best. She even offers insights that I've not seen in other books. She really knows her stuff! I'm sorry to see that it's out of print, it's a fantastic book, packed with good knowledge and easy to read.

Comments: This book could be considerably better helper to the practicioneer, if would concentrate practical operations, but no fuzzy theoretical aspects. Methods of return effect on an iris with the purpose of improving a condition of organs and systems practically are not circumscribed. Besides, the quality of a photo could be best. But, in common, the book is usable.

Summary: Good background, but not the definitive book on the subject
Comments: I was not as impressed as the previous reviewer, though I appreciate the work done by the author. I came away from this book with the impression that iridology is in its infancy, and that the definitive text isn't this one.
The author himself says the same. He tells us that there is so much more to learn about iridology, and that we are not to trust our own observations until we have been at it for several years and have studied hundreds of pairs of eyes.
Wouldn't the definitive text give us something to take away with us, something we can use?
When I looked up iridology on the internet I was referred to a website that said that a group of iridologists was put to the test, including the author of this book, and that they failed to accurately report on the health of the test subjects.
I am very suspicious of the "quack busters", who are almost always deceptive and worthless. But in this case, the report only led me to give more credence to the author's own expressed doubts.
What the book does offer is a background in iridology. Now I know what it is about and I have some idea of how to go about doing it. The first thing you'd better do is buy some equipment to photograph eyes and blow them up to a size you can deal with. No matter how long I stare at my own eyes in a mirror, I don't see a damn thing.
