Spinal Stabilization : The New Science of Back Pain
ASIN:096887150X
Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: pain-free for over a year!
Comments: I had been diagnosed as having everything from strained back muscles to a slipped vertebrae to a bulging disc. Finally I saw a PT in Colorado who had taken a course in Hawaii from the author of this book. The technique of contracting the transversus and multifidus muscles together seemed too 'gentle' after all the various treatments I had tried before. As they say though, the scientific research supports this form of treatment moreso than anything else. Highly recommended.

The Pilates Back Book: Heal Neck, Back, and Shoulder Pain With Easy Pilates Stretches ASIN: 1931412898
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: Stretching does cure Back Pain
Comments: Back problems can come from a variety of sources. Neck injuries, neck mis-alignments,torn ligaments, improper posture, short leg, and the list goes on. Each back problem, is different than the next, and should be treated differently. There isnt a one-fix all! For me, the main cause of my back pain, was do to, tight glutes, and hamstrings. They were so tight, that it tightened up my back muscles(back pain), and virtually every other muscle in my body. The stretching outlined in this book, really helped to lossen up those muscles, and therefore lossen up my back muscles, and therefore help get rid of back pain. You dont need any medical studies, to show this, works. Its pure common sense. The muscles in the body are interconnected, and one set of tight muscles, are prone to tighten other muscles. The book has, helped me alot. Definately worth the buy.

The Multifidus Back Pain Solution: Simple Exercises That Target the Muscles That Count ASIN: 1572242787
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: You'll kick yourself if you don't know about the multifidus.
Comments: This book came out earlier this year and is written by a physical therapist. Although he apparently hasn't published a lot else, it is obvious by the cited references discussed in the book that he has read much back research and puts it all in your grasp with this short, handy little book. The book details in layman's terms what the multifidus is, what it does, and the myriad of back problems that have been associated with multifidus abnormailities. Finally, the book finishes by showing you a very simple exercise to help correct the problem, so simple in fact that my ten year-old does it with me from time to time. When you finish, it makes you think that there is some sort of cover-up going on. Just how could such a well documented back pain problem (extremely well-referenced in the book) have escaped the public's attention for so long?
