Comments: This Paraffin spa comes with everything you need to protect your hands and feet from winter's dry weather at less than half the price of the competition.
If you are new to paraffin treatments, they are simple and luxurious. After the wax melts (which unfortunately takes six hours due to the generous six pounds (!) of paraffin provided), you dip your hands or feet (clean them first) in and out of the paraffin about six times, building up multiple layers of warm, moisturizing wax. You then put your hands or feet into one of the 60 plastic liners provided, then into a cloth insulation pouch (also provided) and enjoy 15-20 minutes or so of healing warmth.
After the treatment is over, you have a wax "glove" that comes off easily and you can recycle back into the paraffin spa or into the trash.
The treatments are addictive, and this was the perfect gift for my wife, who says it is actually healing her chronically chapped hands!
I also love it for warming my chronically cold extremities.
Unfortunately, this model is so darn popular that it sells out quickly, so if you find one, buy it!

Comments: Although wax units are messy and time consumning they make your hands feel great. This unit is really too small. You have to almost stand up and place one hand in to cover the whole hand. If you are sitting down you can't bend your wrist enough to cover it. Large units may cost abit more but you can cover up to your wrist and use on your feet as well.

Comments: We bought this as a gift for an older friend who had complained of aching in her hands, especially during the colder months. She cannot stop thanking us or raving about the product.

Summary: Feels soothing, but paraffin is no miracle
Comments: First of all, paraffin, although very soothing and warm, has only temporary results. I have dry hands and feet, and after using the Revlon unit (or any other unit, for that matter), my hands and feet returned back to their normal state the next day. Not only that, but I work in the beauty industry and can definitely tell you that paraffin dips feel nice, but that's it. Paraffin does not remove dead skin any more than a piece of tape. And it does not moisturize any more than taking a hot shower and then smearing your feet in an occlusive cream like Vaseline or Body Butter. If i felt this unit was truly healing or necessary, i would have bought one of my own. Thank goodness my friend bought it first so I could try it out. In addition, another gripe is that my size 8 feet didn't fit comfortably in the unit, and continuously buying blocks of wax and hauling them back to your home is no spa-licious treat. I'd rather save the money, get pampered in a corner nail salon for a few bucks. Why? I'm not the one doing all the work! why self pre-manicure, self-exfoliate, self dip, self-massage and self-fumble around while trying not to spill wax/touch the floor/look for an extra hand to lotion and put on the mitts?? Relaxation and pampering are all about NOT exerting any effort, so that's why buying such a unit will just sit in the cupboard collecting dust after the initial excitement dies down. Trust me.

Summary: PAINFUL! OUCH! That is, if you are a man like me...
Comments: My wife received this item as a Christmas gift. She loves the effects but we both agree that the heat from the wax is painful and difficult to fully enjoy. I normally could care less about these type of items as a typical guy, but my wife insisted that she was my elbows. We had a deal with some bargaining so I let her have her fun.
Well, it is HOTTER than hades and I just can't appreciate the after effects. It was supposed to take some of the excess skin off and make it smoother (after she spent time pre-cleaning.) Seems as if I might have needed 3 treatments! I guess I don't see what the big ballyhoo is, but then again, I'm just a guy! ;-)
For what it's worth, my wife likes the effects she received, but she wasn't thrilled with the pain of the heat. To each his/her own I reckon. We both wish it had a temperature control. I don't know if others have it or not but it sure would be nice!

Comments: If you order a few bags of paraffin beads/pearls, you will have enough paraffin to last through the winter. When you use the paraffin bath, you really should throw out the used paraffin which has solidified on your hands.
If you use this bath mostly in the winter, add a cup or two of beads each time you dip your hands or feet. This keeps the level up and makes dipping your hands/feet much easier. See my review for the Paraffin bath. I used to spend so much money going to the salon. Now with all the great salon style products here at Amazon.com, I am saving money. That money then goes to buying more books! :)

There is also no customer service to call to talk with someone. You must email them. They gave me the runaround and basically said too bad. Comments: Warm paraffin is so comforting in the winter. When you are cooking, planting tulip bulbs or simply living life in the winter, the skin on your hands can start to dry out more than in the summer months. You will also notice your feet needing extra attention in the summer months due to wearing open shoes. So, this paraffin bath is perfect year round. While you can find smaller paraffin baths (one sitting on the bathroom counter is nice), the larger size is more versatile if you only want to buy one.
Once you have your parfait bath all set up, turn on the heat the day before you want to dip your hands, feet or elbows. The heat can be set on high to melt solid was or on low for periods of infrequent use to keep the wax melted. When the paraffin wax starts getting low, you can reorder more wax and simply add it to the bath. The tub with a transparent lid holds up to 6lbs of wax. It is unscented, undyed and hypoallergenic. Six additional pounds of paraffin wax costs under ($).
To use this luxury, simply dip your hand, elbow or food into the warm melted wax and then dip again so you get two coats. You will feel as if you just put on a warm glove. Now, to increase the benefit of the heat, I first put on some great hand cream and then dip my hands. That way the cream is absorbed and your hands feel soft and smooth.
60 disposable plastic mitts are included. You can slip your hands into the mitts and sit and watch TV for 15 minutes. Then, slip off the wax which is now hardened on your hand. A few parrafin hand dips at a salon will cost you more than one parrafin bath, so it is worth the initial cost of purchasing your own and you can also use it before a manicure to help your cuticles. Put some almond or vitamin E oil on your nails and cuticles and then dip your hands, the results are amazing!

Summary: Works great, wish the instructions were more complete
Comments: This item works really well. The instructions are really not as complete as I would have liked, but I'm figuring things out. For instance, it says you can leave it on all the time so that it is ready to use when you need it, you can turn the temp down to low for up to 3 weeks and then turn it up whenever you need it, but the instructions don't say whether I should turn it back all the way up to high/melt to liquify the wax and then turn it down to midpoint again, or whether I should just put it back to midpoint from low. I would highly suggest to anyone, that they use a thermometer as well to check the temperature of the wax, the instructions suggest testing it on your wrist, but it takes way longer than I would have thought to come back down to usable temperature from the high/melt setting. You should use this when the wax temperature is between 121 and 131 I think that is what it said, when I tested it after melting it for the first time, it was 150 degrees! I'm very glad I did not test that on my wrist as I would certainly have gotten a burn. All in all, it works really well as far as what a paraffin treatment is supposed to do, it helps the arthritis in my hands, and they are nice and soft. It really is a luxurious treatment. I currently have it plugged in on my kitchen counter and use it about once a day if not twice. I have not tried it on feet or elbows yet, but I'm sure one day I will. This model is definately one of the best, because you can leave it on all the time and it is big enought to use on your feet if you wanted to. The models that you have to plug in only when you use it need at least a couple of hours to warm up the wax each time, that to me would be a tremendous inconvenience. I love this item and would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of spa luxury at home.
