Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies
ASIN: 6301729897

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Great tape
Comments: If you like that era music and are a beginner, you will really enjoy this tape.
Richard Simmons - Blast Off The Pounds (3 pack)
ASIN: B00006RCQI
Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies, Vol. 3
ASIN: B00005T33C

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: More Great Richard - From an overweight exerciser
Comments: Fun and Challenging. Only one short twisting sequence that is a bit difficult on standard pile carpeting. Plenty of short pauses where you can grab some water. 55 Minutes of exercise.
Richard Simmons and the Silver Foxes - Fitness for Silver Citizens
ASIN: B00004RE5L

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: The Dead Need Not Apply
Comments: If you think this exercise for seniors requires you to be half dead, think again. Simmons takes several "celebrity-parents" seniors through a very low impact workout. You will "move" here to nice mellow music and workout in an attractive setting. The highlight is his encouragement to tone and become flexible during a sit-down regime.
Again, this is a low impact, but if one is conditioned, you can increase the activity. Excellent workout for seniors whether you are beginning or advanced. Take it at your own pace...MzRizz
Richard Simmons - Disco Sweat
ASIN: B00005T33A

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Fun Music - From an overweight exerciser
Comments: Fun music, challenging exercise. 65 minutes of exercise, 55 minutes of aerobic and 10 minutes of crunches and cool down. Plenty of short pauses where you can grab some water. Easy to do on standard pile carpeting, but it helps to have a mat for the crunches.
Richard Simmons - Dance Your Pants Off!
ASIN: B00005T339

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Contagiously happy people! Fun
Comments: What I like about Richard Simmons videos is that he dares to use "real music", music that is recognizable, and fun. Sure it isn't the original singers, but these tunes are done well. Richard's group is happy, very happy, very very happy. You can't help appreciate that and it is contagious. The sets change as well as the front-line exercisers.
Now, I don't generally use his videos because I feel they are geared for more overweight people and I use more challenging aerobic videos. But I got off the wagon recently and decided to get back into exercising and chose Richard Simmons to get me back in the mood.
What I don't like about his videos is that he constantly changes steps. Constantly. I prefer to stick with a step at least 6-8 times, but he changes after almost 2 times. I don't care for that, as it causes me to get off track and just move anyway til I catch up again.
Otherwise, it is a fun workout! MzRizz
Sweatin' To The Oldies 2
ASIN: B0000065NH

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: if you love dancin' then you'll love sweatin'
Comments: this tape was so much fun. i'm a very lazy person and hate exercise but when i bought this tape and put it on to see what it's about i just couldn't help shaking my tush! it's packed with stretching, low-impact aerobis, and weight training all done in a "dancy" fun manner! another thing i loved is that the people doing the workout in the video are all normal looking poeple of all shapes and sizes! if you love dancing to the oldies, then you'll love this tape.

Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies 3
ASIN: 6303471102

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Awesome!
Comments: I haven't done the first or second one but I do know that this one was great. It is alot of dancing but it really makes you sweat. The songs are great and they just keep you going. I highly recommend this video!
Richard Simmons: Get Started
ASIN: 6301536959

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: I would recommend this video to beginners!
Comments: This tape is excellent for beginners. I didn't have any trouble keeping up with the moves, but it got my heartrate up. It's not too intense, and I enjoyed doing it. I'm not a big fan of exercise tapes, because the moves are usually difficult and I feel completely exhausted afterwards. This tape isn't like that at all. If you are beginning a weight loss/better health program this tape is for you!
Tone Up on Broadway/Broadway Sweat
ASIN: B00005T33I

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: One of my favorites - From an overweight exerciser
Comments: Broadway Sweat is fun and upbeat but there are no short pauses where you can grab some water. All moves are easy on carpet, but there is a little bit of bouncing. 55 minutes of exercise. There are a couple of continuity errors.
Tone up on Broadway is wonderful! Great toning workout since you can vary the resistance to meet your needs. 25 minutes of exercise. Perfect for Richard's target audience - those of us who are overweight and who can't even move a bow-flex.
Reach for Fitness - A Special Video of Exercises for the Physically Challenged
ASIN: B00000680E

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Great workout
Comments: Someone should make a special award for Richard Simmons. What a sweetheart! Richard Simmons is able to bring fitness to all levels of abilities. This video has a great workout for those of us who aren't very ambulatory. It uses real people with real disabilities to show how each exercise is done. It's easier to follow than any other video I've tried. It's very upbeat and encouraging for those who have more than just weight to contend with.
The only jarring part is the rather inane popup screens of perfectly healthy HollyWood stars chanting "You can do it!" in a rather patronizing manner. Richard really doesn't need this fluff for his video, so you can simply avoid these plastic people by staying in the middle of the tape where all the good stuff is. I wish everyone in a wheelchair or in braces or who just can't walk without pain could have this video.
Tone and Sweat
ASIN: B00005T33E

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: A bit tough for an overweight exerciser
Comments: This one is quite a challenge for Richard's usual audience, people like me who are not in shape, but it is worth it. It is 35-40 minutes of exercise and 5 minutes that show you how to use the cords. Plenty of short pauses where you can grab some water. Very carpet friendly. Does require getting on the floor to do crunches, so having a mat is good.
Richard Simmons- Disco Sweat
ASIN: 6303471153

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent Beginner Tape
Comments: I was never really into Richard Simmons, but I bought this tape because it had real songs on it instead of that bland electronic non-descript stuff that a lot of exercise videos use. Now I love Richard Simmons!
Some of the moves are so cheesy (the classic John Travolta pose) that I was laughing too hard to continue for a second. It's silly in parts, but that's what makes it so fun.
Most of the people in the video are REALLY large, which makes me feel like if they can do it, I can do it. Everyone seems to be having a really fun time, and Richard is so encouraging. He keeps me going when I'm getting tired.
It's also low impact (well, pretty much non impact), which is much easier on my feet and knees. I found the moves pretty easy to catch on to. This is a great tape if you're out of shape and just getting into an exercise routine like me.
Some reviewers talked about Richard not cueing on everything, but I like this better as after a couple times through the tape you pretty much know what to do, and you have to listen to it over and over again so you don't want someone saying go left, go right, over and over again.
I only do about 20 minutes of the tape at a time right now and plan on working up to more. I will definitely buy more Richard Simmons tapes after having such a good experience with this one.
Richard Simmons - Tone and Sweat
ASIN: 6305021368

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Even if you can't stand Simmons, you HAVE to try this one!
Comments: Really, I mean it. I can't stand Richard Simmons work outs. But his Tone and Sweat Video is BETTER than anything out there. It is realistic. Anyone can do it. My husband is in the Army and he wants his soldiers to do it, because he feels it is that great! We do it every day, not because we have to, but because we feel so much more energy when we do. Anyone can find time for this one as it is VERY short. Only about 30 min and that is counting the time he takes to instruct you on how to use the toning cord. You can fast forward that part after you fully understand.
Best excercise video out there today! (and I do Tae Bo, so I am accustomed to more difficult excercise programs)
Richard Simmons: Sweat and Shout
ASIN: B00005T33D

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: More fun from Richard - From an overweight exerciser
Comments: Challenging but not too hard. Only one short twisting sequence that is a bit difficult on standard pile carpeting. Plenty of short pauses where you can grab some water. 55 Minutes of exercise.
Richard Simmons: Latin Blast-Off
ASIN: B00006RCQE

Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Great music, not so great workout.
Comments: I loved the music in this video, but just could not get the moves down. I am familiar with Richard Simmons workouts and know that he does not cue very often, but these moves were more advanced then what he usually does. I'm sure that after a few times I'll get the moves down, but it was just frustrating to try to keep up when you had no idea what was coming next.
The toning section is a joke, he goes too fast and makes the moves two big, so you risk getting injured. I only got through a few minutes of the toning before turning it off and the next day my upper back was killing me from doing large arm circles with weights (which shouldn't be done!).
I wouldn't recommend this tape for anyone who feels uncoordinated, I'm a dancer and I still couldn't figure out the moves the first time!
Richard Simmons: Disco Blast-Off
ASIN: B00006RCQF
Sweat and Shout
ASIN: B0000065NK

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Best One Yet
Comments: I have most of Richard's workouts. This one is by far the best, but only if you have done aerobics before. If you're a beginner, start with his first one and work your way up. The routines are more complex, but more varied. Not boring, in other words. If you're more into advanced aerobics, this is for you.
Tonin Uptown/Tonin Downtown
ASIN: B00000G3CB

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Great Way to Get in Shape!
Comments: Although all of his tapes are excellent, I particularly like this two tape set. The first one, "Tonin' Uptown" is for your upper body, and the "Tonin' Downtown" is for...you guessed it, your lower body. The tapes run around 30-40 minutes each and are easy enough for a beginner to do. The music keeps you moving and let's face it...Richard Simmons is just pretty darn motivational! It's hard not to give the exercise routine your best effort, even though he's just on tape! Be forwarned--the toning rings are NOT included with the videos, but you can easily buy them at many discount stores. The students in his class could be you and me...they aren't all drop-dead gorgeous looking models, and I appreciate that. Instead of sitting at the computer, why don't you order this tape and get busy toning with Richard??
Richard Simmons - Dance Your Pants Off
ASIN: B00000IBN2

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Fun workout
Comments: This is by far one of Richard Simmons best videos. It is for an intermediate level. You can easily catch on to all the moves after about 3 tries! It is short enough to stick with, and long enough to get results. If you are in top shape, this is too easy for you.
Reach for Fitness

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: "You can DO it!"
Comments: Been using this video for exercise for about three weeks now. Being a polio survivor, I can't exercise standing up. This video is ideal for getting the old heart pumping. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the famous and not-so-famous people saying "You can DO it!" Thought that was totally patronizing (we post polio folks are funny that way). After you get used to this one, try "Sit Tight" by Richard Simmons also--it'll really get you going!
