Sugar Busters! Quick and Easy Cookbook
ASIN: 0345437772

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: A Great Quick Fix Diet Book.
Comments: I am getting married in a month, so I bought this book to try and lose those extra pounds for the wedding. It's hard to believe that you can eat like this and still lose weight, but miraculously it is working! A lot of the recipes have a pretty high fat content so if you are worried about cholesterol, this may not be the book for you. But if you want to take off pounds quickly and are willing to follow the regimen, this book will do the trick. Fair warning - giving up sugar and carbs is really hard so you have to be determined. And the recipes are not always quick and easy. As a long-term way of life, I don't know if I could cook and eat like this every day. But for quick weight loss without starving yourself, this is the book to buy.
Sugar Busters! Cut Sugar to Trim Fat
ASIN: 0345425588

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Lost 55 Pounds - Still Going
Comments: I started the plan four months ago on my doctor's advice, I was originally going to go with Atkins but he dissuaded me from that plan. In the first two months I had dropped 25 pounds, and it kept going from there. I went from a 38 waist down to a 34 as of this week. I haven't felt this good in years, I have more stamina than I ever had. I would recommend that you see your doctor before starting any plan, and get a complete workup done (blood, etc.) Then go back in 3-4 months and see if you have improved.
Sugar Bust for Life!... With the Brennans: Cookbook and Companion Guide
ASIN: 0966351908

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Can't Believe NC!
Comments: I'm confused by the misleading review from the reader in NC. I got this cookbook 8 weeks ago and I LOVE it. It is packed with fantastic and easy to make recipes for every occasion and I've already lost 10 pounds! If the reader is intimidated by the thought of eating "turtles and ducks" he/she doesn't know what they're missing, but not to worry, this book has you covered. Is spaghetti and meatballs too exotic for them? Meat loaf? They want "McDonald's?" That's too bad because the 3 hamburger recipes are simple and delicious. In fact, the Hamburger Brennan is the best burger I've ever had. The reader from NC is worried about cheese and butter? Did they read the Low Fat Modification section? The book clearly explains that many times low and no fat equals high sugar content. It's all about moderation and the author provides substitutions. And thank goodness for all those appetizer and sauce recipes! Now I can entertain or make a special dinner for my family and still stick to my diet! I've tried a million diets and this book is the first one that's made sense to me! I don't know what's going on in NC, but take it from NY, this book is a life saver!
Sugar Busters!: Shopper's Guide
ASIN: 0345435346

Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Quick guide for shopping without having to use the main book
Comments: The Sugar Busters book is a comprehensive book but the shoppers guide keeps you from having to sift thru all of the pages of the big book. It is a very handy book to have when shopping for the correct foods.
Sugar-Free Cooking With Stevia: The Naturally Sweet and Calorie-Free Herb (Revised 3rd Edition)
ASIN: 192890615X

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Still Experimenting
Comments: I am still working with the recipes in this book but overall, I have been pleased...especially with the conversion chart. I believe this is worth it. I am a low-carber and I'm told that Kirkland has also come out with a Low-Carb stevia book.
Sugar Bust for Life!...With the Brennans, Part II : Cookbook and Companion Guide
ASIN: 0966351924

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Health and Great Taste: What More Could You Want!
Comments: I usually do not respond to claims from the obviously ignorant, but in this case, I felt compelled. Unlike the reviewer from North Carolina, I have found Sugar Bust for Life invaluable as I have attempted to get my health in order. The recipes are healthy, yet fulfilling and I am always satiated through my daily exercise routines (try the Venison Chops for a real treat).
I encourage all health conscious people to follow this book as a guide to healthy living.
Unbelievable Desserts With Splenda: Sweet Treats Low in Sugar, Fat and Calories
ASIN: 0871319640

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: No Sugar - No Way
Comments: I am a chef and am more than a bit skeptical that anything that is low-fat not to mention low sugar could taste like a real dessert. Then I saw the review saying there was too much sugar so I figured the answer to the good reviews was that the author used sugar only to "call" the desserts low sugar. But because my mother has diabetes, my wife is on a diet and my chef association mentioned splenda was a good product I ordered the book. Here is what I found:
1. The desserts really do taste tremendous. In fact had I not made the "Heavenly Cheesecake" myself I would never have believed it had NO sugar and was so low in fat. My wife was thrilled at the meager 180 calories for a real piece.
2. I found MANY of the recipes actually did not have ANY sugar. The ones that did had teaspoons or tablespoons. When you bake regular dessert recipes you use CUPS. To have the appearance and taste of these with so little is unbelievable.
3. Portion sizes are real.
4. A few chocolate chips, a little lite topping - these are the ingredients that make these desserts taste great, not dietetic or weird like health food stuff. And still the calories are low.
Last, I have looked at many books for desserts for diabetics. Some use other no-cal sweeteners which don't taste or cook well. Some use fructose and apple juice but those are still sugar. These recipes taste great and are truly low in carb (and sugar).
I intend to use them for all my "special" clients (and me too)
