Summary: The hottest kettle on the market
Comments: Just boil and go! Being cordless, this kettle has been a great addition to my home (and even office on occasion). I just heat it up on its power base, then lift it off and take it with me wherever I go. Whether I'm in my study or even outside on the deck, I always have a hot and steaming cup of water ready to pour. And with its two-sided water window, I always know well ahead of time when it needs a refill. But best of all, inside, the heating element is under a flat stainless steel bottom, so when you do want to clean for some reason (although it almost never gets dirty), it's a breeze!

Comments: I bought this kettle as a gift to myself. I was tired of trying to pry the lid off my old kettle. It was scorching hot and boiled dry more than once. There were no features and that is why it was such an [inexpensive] pot. This was the best gift to myself ever!
The sleek design that comes in white makes it blend with any decor. It takes up less space because it is taller rather than wider. It holds a max. of 7 cups. The downfall is that it measures the water in liters rather than cups. This is easy to deal with because it is such a great product. It works quickly. It also has a cordless base with a cord that stores easily underneath. This helps to hide those ugly wires. I love the fact that you can put the kettle on the base from any direction. It is easy to take to the table when entertaining and it is pretty enough to put on a table.
The see through window makes this a breeze to see how much water is in the kettle and if it is close to being done. The on button is on the handle with a great automatic shut-off feature. This prevents the pot from boiling dry. It also comes with a decalcification filter located in the spout. It can easily taken out and cleaned with vinegar and water. This is great because I have hard water which causes my kettles to become horrible looking. T-Fal recommends that if you have hard water that this cleaning of the filter needs to be done every 10-15 uses but I have used it more with success. The handle is easy and thick to hold. It is definitely comfortable. The lid is easy to get off and is hinged so that you do not have to pry it off. So many other manufacturers, have such hard lids to remove but not this one. This kettle boils 7 cups in 5-6 minutes. I actually timed it. My 2 cups of water boils in 2 minutes. This is fast! In contrast to other tea kettles this kettle is inexpensive and has the same features as many of the other pricier manufacturers. T-Fal is a reputable company and I love my T-Fal Vitesse. I highly recommend it!

Comments: Purchased this item recently and have used it a few times. The kettle is very "professional" looking. The fit and finish is excellent with no complaints. A previous reviewer mentioned that the lid didn't seem to fit quite right. There's a rubber gasket on the lid to create a tight seal. My kettle, new out of the box, didn't seem to fit quite right but if you check and adjust the gasket (takes almost 2 seconds) it fits great. The whistle is loud enough to be heard - it called me last night when I got busy elsewhere. Looks great on the stove...

Summary: A Great Tea Kettle for a Great Price
Comments: After searching high and low for a functional yet attactive stainless steel tea kettle, I've finally found the one! Initially, I wasn't sold on the stainless steel look, but after trying some enameled tea kettles that tended to rust with regular use (and fearing for all the paint I must be ingesting as I watched the inside coating wear away) I decided that stainless steel was probably my best bet. This kettle looks great, and I don't have to worry about leaving water in it. It also has a large enough opening to allow for periodic cleaning, a must on my list (larger hands may find the opening a tad too small.) The kettle has a nice 2.5 quart capacity. It boils water quickly, and it doesn't look bulky on my stove. At first, I thought the whistle sounded a bit muted, but I soon decided that this was a good thing. It's loud enough to hear, but it doesn't make you leap out of your skin. The flip-up spout is nice if you're pouring multiple cups of tea, but I find flipping it closed again a bit awkward. All in all, though, I couldn't be more pleased. This kettle is functional, attactive, and, with it's 18/10 weight stainless steel, built to last.

Summary: Great Braun Electric Kettle
Comments: We were recently in England and saw friends using an electric tea kettle that was different than any we had ever seen in the U.S. I had to have one. When we got home I found this lovely Braun electric kettle and purchased it immediately. It does all we expected. It has a large capacity so you don't have to refill it constantly. It boils very, very quickly and shuts off so I don't have to watch it. I love being able to take it to the sink to fill it without dragging the cord. It's very easy to clean because it detaches from the base. I like the large handle grip and the water window on both sides. We use it for everything instant including soup. How did we get along without it?

Summary: It's not like the teapot calling the kettle black
Comments: I've owned Russell Hobbs auto-off teapots and the older Cuisinart auto-off corded teapot. This is a third generation pot for me and I love this one best! There is a tiny light on the bottom front which let's you know when it is "on", the hidden element is another nice feature which makes cleaning tough calcium deposits from water much easier. The best feature by far is that it's cordless so you can carry it over to another location like I need to do when mixing jello or preparing microwave oatmeal. It's got a nice new design too.

Summary: Phillips Electric Tea Kettle
Comments: My Mr. Coffee tea kettle broke and I found out that it was no longer being made. I reviewed the tea kettles and the reviews and chose Phillips. It is better than I expected. A person who drinks a lot of tea must have designed it. It has a base with the electric cord in it so you just can remove the kettle itself without having to unplug the cord. It marks how many cups of water you have it it and you can visually see it boil. It turns off when it boils and it also makes a little "ding". I plan to buy the product again when my office and motorhome tea kettles break.

Summary: Attractive Kettle at an Attractive Price
Comments: This nice-looking kettle does it's job well. It holds plenty of water and the whistle is loud enough to be heard throughout the house. The handle stays cool, but I have noticed that the trigger for opening the spout does tend to get warm. It's nice to actually lift the lid and be able to place a teaball screen inside the pot to make an entire pot of tea for company, and it makes it easy to wash out the kettle so you know the water is nice and clean.

Summary: relief for sore hands and a wonderful whistle
Comments: Another Amazon[.com] reviewer praised this kettle for being so easy to use in spite of her arthritis and I bought the kettle on this recommendation. I was not disappointed--the kettle is easy to fill, hold, and pour, because of the clever mechanism that opens the spout as soon as the kettle is tipped. The handle is soft and gently curved and the kettle does not slip when I pick it up. The end of the handle also doesn't dig into my wrist the way other kettles' handles do.
The steam seal is tight, too, so there's on change of being burnt by steam as you pour. I virtually never remove the lid--I refill the kettle through the spout.
A few others reviewers criticized the whistle. I have to disagree--this whistle is a gentle but loud two-toned hum and is easy to hear. Depending on how much water is in the kettle, it emits a loud, low hum or simultaneously two hums of different pitches. It's simply not the high-pitched screech of most kettles, and so it takes some getting used to listening out for. The kettle is also easy to clean--there are no tight corners or small parts that are out of the way and so get dirty easily.

Summary: A good, solid kettle
Comments: I got one of these as a gift a couple of years ago and it's great: holds a lot of water, heats quickly. The rivet that secures the lid handle has rusted, but it doesn't seem at all inclined to crumble and break. My only complaint--this is so trivial!--is that the texture of Calphalon stuff is reminiscent of blackboard material. Every time I remove or replace the lid, the scraping of metal on metal makes me flinch. The texture freaks me out to a lesser degree on those rare occasions when I have to scrub the kettle. For some reason this only occurs with Calphalon; I don't have this reaction when handling my non-Calphalon anodized cookware. Fellow freaks beware! Update: I've now had this kettle for about five years, and I noticed when cleaning it the other day that the inside bottom is pocked and has white spots that look like mineral deposits but that don't scrub off. All of the pocks are small in diameter, but one or two are quite deep and may eventually work their way through the thick bottom of the kettle. Water in New York is not known for its hardness and I almost always use filtered (Brita) water in the kettle. I also tend to empty the kettle on every use--I rarely leave water sitting in it. So I'm inclined to think that these holes result from flaws in the metal, combined with heat. The kettle's still plenty strong, but I may be taking advantage of the lifetime warrantee on Calphalon Professional products in a few more years. This is one houseware I'd definitely consider worth repairing rather than replacing.

Comments: Hi, I have owned this model for over 4 years. This week the Bodum finally gave out. The contacts on the base charger have burned out with time. However, since I am an avid tea drinker this happened after 4 years of use at least twice per day. I love this product, and have ordered this same kettle once more. Hopefully, I will enjoy many more years of hot water for me and my family. What's also great about this product is that you can use it to heat hot water really fast for when you are cooking (shows the savings on the gas bill).

Comments: Having bought and used this product in the UK at the cost of 50 pounds I have been disappointed. The element has blown after only 20 months of use. I live in a very soft water area so not one bit of scale was in the kettle and it has never been boiled empty. There has been no misuse. Although the kettle looks good on the kitchen surface it's not much use now! I have had better longevity from far cheaper plastic kettles and will not be buying any more DeLonghi products as a result

Comments: I had high hopes for this kettle and it worked very well for most of the first 6 months of ownership. Then it began to automatically cut out before it had come to a boil, and I had to wait for the thermostat to click before I could give it another try. It took numerous attempts to get it to actually boil. As any tea connoisseur knows, it is essential to make tea on a rolling boil, and overboiled or water repeatedly boiled water flattens the taste. If you don't actually require the water to boil, this can be an excellent kettle.

Summary: Great Little Water Kettle
Comments: Excellent little appliance for the price. In an office with no coffee bar you have to either get water and heat it in the microwave or use someones coffee maker and heat the water. In my office the only good place to get water is a water fountain that is refrigerated water and it takes 3 - 4 minutes in the microwave to heat it. This little pot takes 27 ounces of chilled water and heats it to a boil in less time that the microwave takes to heat one small cup. It's sturdy construction and small foot print are great for my small cubical. The pour spout pours a concentrated stream without splashing. The lid locks on good, but removes easily. It is easy to clean. The only way it could be improved would be to have a warmer mode that keeps the water warm, but it reheats the water so quick that the potential safety concerns with having it on constantly are outweighed by the few seconds you would save by not having to reheat. All around I think it is well worth the price.

Comments: If you're looking for a good teakettle but don't want to spend a fortune, this is the one to get! The enamel finish is very attractive and easy to clean. The whistle is loud enough, and hasn't stopped working as has been the case with teakettles I've owned previously. The red is particularly attractive, and is a little darker and a lot less orange then most red teakettles I've looked at. It's hard to believe that you can get a product this good for such a[n inexpensive] price, but in this case it's actually true!

Summary: Look for anything else
Comments: I bought this for my wife for Christmas. The first one was dirty and looked used right out of the box. I emailed Amazon.com and they sent a replacement right away. When I got the replacement it looked as bad as the original. My wife cleaned one up and is using it, but it has problems. The water level indicator is nearly impossible to read and the cover doesn't close or open correctly. The best I can say is it works, but I couldn't recommend it unless you don't care what it looks like or how much water you're heating.

Comments: This tea kettle looks great on a stove top. However, when it comes to actually being useful, it fails miserably. The design is completely impractical; when the water boils, the handle becomes -- literally -- too hot to handle. It is difficult to pour (hot) water out without holding the kettle at a very awkward angle, and the steam from the water inevitably burns one's hand. NOT a good choice if one actually wants to boil water easily.

Summary: Nice to look at, BUT...
Comments: This is a beautiful tea kettle and I was attracted to it right away. However, after getting it home I realized how non-functional it really is.
The handle gets as hot as the kettle does, and you need a pot holder to handle it. Keep that pot holder close by, because after the water boils you'll need it again to take the whistle off the spout to pour the water. Pot a plant in it and go buy a kettle that you can actually use!
