Comments: I like this workout and felt results immediately. I've never taken a Pilates class, but I understand this is pretty close, if not identical, to Pilates techniques, so I'm not sure why Jennifer Kries is taking so much credit.
I also want to tweak her head off when she says she's working out both legs because her method relies on symmetry -- as if other methods only work one side of the body. And what's with the "Classic Method Rollup"? It's not a "classic" if it's a new method. Is it a classic Pilates rollup?
Time will tell if Kries gets less irritating to me over repeated viewings, or if I finally get a straight-on Pilates video to replace this.

Comments: If you like to do aerobics and toning together and specifically want to work on your lower body, this tape may be for you. Co-instructors Tamilee Webb, Donna Richardson, and Tracy York begin by each leading their own aerobics segments. They utilize easy-to-follow dance moves, throwing in variations like a latin or funk beat. After the aerobics section, you move on to the target toning for the lower body, begining with standing exercises (lunges, plies, etc.) and then eventually moving to the floor. Again, each instructor leads you through a different segment of tough leg, hip, and [glutes] work. The exercises themselves are nothing new, but they're clearly effective. All three instructors provide very good cueing, but I found them each to be much more low key than they are on other tapes. However, if you are looking for a basic aerobics and toning workout, you will probably like this tape.
Arms and Abs of Steel 2: Complete Upper Body Toning

Comments: I liked this video because of the arm and shoulder toning. I think most people would need to use weights though in order to see any results. The majority of the routine focuses on arms and not abs and also there is no aerobic section like some of the other Steel videos.

Comments: I love this video! Gilad is a great instructor. He is very encouraging and keeps you going, even when your muscles are burning (and they will!). The early 90's feel of the video is amusing, but doesn't detract from the effectiveness of the workout. After 45 minutes with Gilad you will feel strong, energized and motivated to come back and do it again.

Summary: Awesome and fun!
Comments: I think this video is so fun and very effective. Within about a month I noticed inches coming off and other people noticed, too. I have a two-year old and a 5-month old and I always manage to do at least two workouts every day, and my exercising actually entertains them! I feel stronger and have more energy. Ten minutes can really make a difference and I like watching the clock...very motivating.
The first segment with Minna is the best...uses weights and works the whole body; the second has fun boxing moves and great bun and quadriceps exercises; the third one has a different style to it with lots of strengthening and stretching moves. For each segment I find myself adding reps while the instructors are cuing and talking because I have the workouts practically memorized and that adds a little more challenge to them!

Summary: Sufficient workout with weights!
Comments: Jane Fonda's Toning and Shaping video is actually a 1987 workout previously called "Working out with Weights." The package was redesigned in 1993.
The trainer is Dan Isaccson. He and Jane repeatedly warn you that if you can't do this or that because of pain, choose an alternative or don't do it. There are sufficient "15 sec. breaks" in between the lifting of weights. Plus there is intermittent stretching, instead of waiting til the end to stretch.
The 85 minute video is structured in two segments, class I , 45- minute beginner intermediate and Class II, a 40 minute intermediate/advanced
A bench is needed. The pamphlet suggests a picnic bench, good idea! Ankle weights and dumbbells are also used. Displayed on the screen are the weight sizes they use. At times you will see one of the people working on the floor as opposed to being on a bench. Each time the trainer or Jane goes into a new exercise, they inform us which muscle you are working.
Focused here are hamstring curls, arm curls, lateral raises, triceps curl, pelvic thrusts, abdominal crunch. The armwork is similar to leg work, work on one arm, shift to the other, back and forth.
Class II focuses on about the same as Class I, but there are those dreaded lunges, squats, and pushups. It is easy to wind your tape to get to the 2nd part of the tape if you need. It is certainly a good workout tape...MzRizz

Comments: I watched Bodies in Motion during the 80's on eurosport in the uk. Since then my daughter and I have looked everywhere in the uk for Gilad. Now I have the internet I am able to puchase lots of him from amazon. When I first watched it I thought I would be dissapointed, because it looked so slow. But when I got up and did it, I was pleasently surprised. I was sweating all over, it was a steady routine to follow and Gilad was enspiring and lets face it dead georgous. I find it easy to follow with good instruction, you can also vary it to suit your own capabilities. Buy it.

Comments: Tamilee is great but I did not get the feel from the other two instructors. Its a good workout. Not the best. Comments: This workout really pushes my limits, but is SO satisfying. I'm a beginner at working out, and it makes me want to do more. I feel very proud of being able to complete the workout. It starts with some warmup and stretching which is quite easy, then there's a few minutes of whew! hard leg and abs exercises, but it feels very well rounded. SOme people might be annoyed by Greg Smithey. He says stuff like "I knew you could do it" and "you look fantastic" and "I'm proud of you" - I'm a little embarrassed to like it, but it does make me feel good and motivates me to exercise. I feel GREAT!

People seem to forget that "upper body" is the shoulders, arms, upper back, and chest.
And unluckily this tape doesn't do it either.
Like it says on the title "Arms" and "abs" only.
there are 3 workouts, and each is 15mins long, but take away the warm up and cool down and its only 9-10mins of actual exercises, which for arms AND abs isn't really enough to make a difference.

Summary: Who said yoga wasn't working out?!
Comments: I've been doing yoga since I was about 8 years old and watched Lilias on PBS. I'm now 33, and I have been very sporadic in my practice the last 10 years. I've been needing to tone my muscles as well as achieve my old flexibility levels. These two tapes certainly do both! Don't let it scare you that I'm familiar with yoga. I'm way out of shape and got these tapes because it said "beginner." It really is for beginners in pace and style, but is challenging enough for those who have been doing yoga for a while, too. She is thorough in explaining the precautions and exact positioning to the beginners while also demonstrating the more advanced positions that can be worked up to. Therefore, she does a wonderful job of making these tapes perfect for both beginners, those who are rusty but know the basics, and even those who know and practice yoga regularly but need some "different" moves that are actually more toning in nature than they may be used to. If you are even slightly interested in yoga and getting in shape healthfully, these tapes are for you.

Comments: This tape has 3 different workouts.
The first one is the one I actually use, it is pretty challenging and is great for spot conditioning; it covers the outer thighs, inner thighs and back of thighs.
The second and third workouts need a chair and a step respectively, and i really dont like the chair one (to hold balance) because it really hurts your knees! and the step one is just unconfortable sitting on it.
One thing i really don't like is the cheesy atmosphere and music; and tamilee's outfit is very scary, and they are always focusing on her butt, but she talks to you in a very friendly way, which gives it positive points, and you dont really feel like just turning it off like other trainers.

Comments: I LOVE that it is only 30 minutes long! Exercising has never been a joy for me. Getting noticable results from a short workout is a big plus! I agree with other people about the static bar on the bottom of the screen, it just won't go away. Other than that it's a decent tape. It dosen't make you feel like checking the clock to see when the torture will be over. It quickly produces muscle definition, unlike some other tapes. I give it four stars because of the static.

Summary: It isn't ab's of steel
Comments: It is hard to be objective, I keep comparing new videos to the classic ab's of steel. It just isn't on par with that, I haven't found anything that is... This video has 3 segments that include a warm up and a stretch. Segment 1 is buns, segment 2 works the inner and outer thigh and segment 3 works the front and back of the thigh, the calves and more (the shin).
What I like: 1)The warm up and cool down. 2)My butt hurts the next day, so I know it works.
What I don't like: 1)The excercises are not intuitive (I still don't know if I am doing them correctly). 2)TamiLee has you use a rag or plastic baggie on the floor so you can slide, which doesn't work very well for me (I wear a sock on the carpet). 3)TamiLee sounds like an idiot.
I am going to stick with it for several months to see if my opinion changes, right now I am kicking myself for not getting the original buns of steel instead!

Comments: Please, please make more videos like this one! It is unparalleled in its ability to give a complete, gentle workout and reduce stress. When I haven't exercised in a while I will turn this tape on and within a couple of minutes I get a rush of well-being. If I am in shape and I need something a little more challenging, I'll do the Earth and Air sections as a warm-up, do a little running and finish up with the invigorating Fire routine and then cool-down with Water and the Color meditation. The set is just lusciously gorgeous - pillars and silk drapery - soft light. The cast is composed of beautiful but real women of all ages. The moves come mostly from Yoga but also from Tai Chi, Ballet, African Dance and Kung Fu. My favorites: Shining Diamond and Willow.

Comments: This video is excellent if you are looking for about a half an hour to unwind and also tighten your body. I use this whenever I'm feeling stressed and always feel 100% better and firmer, too. The setting is a beautiful landscaped garden. The music is soothing, yet upbeat. Her voice is also soothing. You do 4 exercises for your lower body and 2 for the upper and you also do abs and lower back. The workout ends and begins with stretching, that feels great. This workout would be great for beginners, or anyone who needs a stress free workout.

Comments: This stretching video is pretty good. If you only have 10 minutes, you can get in a decent stretch. I feel really loosened up from the morning stretch, especially in the back. There are only 2 Sun Salutations (1 on each side) so don't be put off by that if you dislike those. I enjoyed the PM Stretch and the Athletic stretch, but didn't care for the Tai Chi by Denise. At least that part is at the end and I can skip it the easiest. Worth buying for the first 3 sections.

Summary: Best low impact aerobics video I've purchased
Comments: I've recently bought a number of low impact tapes, and this is the best of the bunch. Amy Esterhay is likable, and the two other women on screen seem like real people, not professional aerobicizers. It's a well designed program. The exercises are clearly explained and easy to follow even the first time. The moves seem innovative, and are deceptively easy - you get more of a workout than you think you're getting. The toning exercises at the end are done standing up - you don't need to get down on the floor - and I really like that. You can use hand weights, but you really don't have to in order to get a good workout. My only negative comment would be that a few more leg stretches at the end would be helpful, but I just add those on my own.

The New Method 20/20: Target Toning

Summary: An OK workout
Comments: There are two 20-minute workouts on this video. The first uses light weights and focuses on the upper body (all standing moves). The second uses ballet moves and matwork to focus on the lower body. Much of the video seems to be taken from the Method TV series because the lower body instuctor does one side of the body during the matwork and suggests doing the other side "later in the day." Then there is a choppy break, and the instuctor proceeds to do the other side. The background and "music" are typical of the Method series--complete with drums. I did enjoy doing the workouts, but I would recommend the Method's very similar but less choppy Precision Pilates instead--20 minutes for the upper body, 20 minutes for the lower, and a short flexibility segment.

Summary: Beautiful scenery, soothing voice, burning muscles
Comments: I have been using this and the beginner's workout, and I feel great - in fact, I've always hated to exercise and now I'm getting up before the kids so I can get in my yoga. I had a new baby several months ago, and completely lost my balance, flexibility, mind, etc. This workout for me was actually a little better than the beginner workout for starting out because my abs needed serious work, but the asanas didn't require me to be extremely flexible to start - Wai Lana encourages the viewer to work up to the heavier stretches, but be patient and don't strain. You still get quite a muscle burn, though! The filming is beautiful, her voice is kind and not judgemental or too peppy. After a session, I feel calm, centered, and ready for the day. My three year old loves it too - she usually wanders in sleepily and watches the end of it, saying "I wanna go that place." Only thing it's missing is a plane ticket to her practice spots.

Summary: 4 types of workout in one DVD...
Comments: Since I discovered Ms. Jennifer Kries workouts DVD's a year ago, I become a huge fan and have almost all her DVD's and Videos. She is my personal home trainer! and her workouts changed my body's look and posture.
This DVD is one of the best out there. The DVD has two workout segments{ you can do both or one at a time,if you are a very busy person}. Workout 1 is a combination of jazz, ballet and yoga moves {30 mins.}Workout 2 is a classic Pilates core conditioning moves{20 mins}. Both workouts are invigorating and exciting. If you are a total begginer, pls be patient bec. she doesn't stop and explain. She talks while doing the moves, you need to position yourself where you can see her while doing the moves but when you come to the point where you knew the moves by heart all you have to do is listen to her voice.
I like itbec. it doesn't bore you and you constantly moving}you will master the moves in time and you will be glad she's not one
of those instructor who thinks you are so clueless!
My advice is to watch the tape first.
She always reminds you about breathing and just to do the moves to your capacity. She is freakingly limber so don't despair if you found out you are nowhere near her capacity.
The DVD also includes tips from the expert. They discuss about how the physical wellness improves the quality of our lives. The DVD feature music only segments,if you already master the moves and tired of listening to the talk.{ Jennifer is not tiring to listen at all, she has a pleasant voice and personality, not at all intimidating}
If you are looking for a variety and new kind of workout in one setting, try this and you won't be dissapointed.
Crosstrain with other of her workouts Precision Pilates and Perfect Mix. Another of her bests, you won't be lost with the moves bec. some of it are introduced or repeated in these 3 DVD workouts.
I also recommend the other Ms Kries workouts :
1.The method:Scuplting,{pilates standing series with 2 to 3 lbs weight.
2Dance to fitness (jazz and aerobics},
3.Target Specifics:ABS{pilates moves}, Arms pilates standing series with 3lbs weight}, Legs{ballet and pilates leg series} and thigh{ yoga/ballet}. Each segments is 15 mins.long.
Have a good workout and you will see the difference it makes in your body in no time!

Comments: this package had arms and abs of steel, abs of steel3, and thighs of steel. the title says buns of steel package but there's no buns tape! i will be returning this product because pf this and the fact that i already ordered abs of steel 3 and the package didnt specify that was the tape included!
