As part of my planning process, I have reviewed MANY books on the subjects of planning weddings. I first found "Your Perfect Wedding Planner" suggested in an on-line site. I decided that before I would buy it, I would go to my local library, check it out and preview it. Within the first 15 minutes of previewing this book, I knew it was a must-have. "Your Perfect Wedding Planner" is an EXCELLENT choice for all brides! Even if you are uncertain with how or when to do something, this planner covers it all. The worksheets and timelines cover when to send out invitations, when you should hire a photographer and even when to get dressed on your wedding day. This planner completely eliminates the need for a consultant. "Your Perfect Wedding Planner" is a beautifully bound book and the contents are timeless. It will not only be one of my favorite keepsakes, it is a book I will want to pass on to my children when it is their time to get married.

Sometimes you are directed to make a copy of a page so you will have enough pages. There is only two pockets to keep receipts, etc. Each section does have very detailed questions to ask vendors, photographers, etc. Instead of putting theses within the chapter, they should have been in an appendix so you can easily locate all the questions. My advice is to buy the Emily Post Wedding Etiquette book (which I did) and find another planner.

It was not nearly large enough to hold all my receipts and contracts. Also my bridal party was large, and there was not enough space for all the information about them. It comes with a slipcover, but my planner was bulging with so many papers, I could never fit it back into it! The book itself is lovely, with a pretty cover and beautiful pictures. But it isn't useful for brides in the real world.

This planner has wedding music suggestions (actual songs) for the first dance, bouquet toss and garter throw. It also includes a list of not to miss photos for your photographer. It gives information aboout formations of the bridal party in the procession and recession. Also it has a list of attendants responsibilities. There are worksheets for vendors and questions to ask each vendor. If I could give this book 6 stars I would, I definately recommend it to all brides-to-be. I gave it as a gift to my newly engaged friend and she adores it also. Good luck!

It includes every possible form and list you will ever need for your wedding. If you're having trouble putting it all together, this will help you organize. That said, it's a good planner but don't look to it for guidance as far as the details of your wedding are concerned. You will need something else (bridal magazine, etc) to help you locate a site, interview possibilities, and compare prices. This book literally will give you a place to organize after you have selected all the components of your wedding. It only helps you plan and organize what you have already chosen. In addition to the forms and lists, there are chapters written by the author. Tatsui-D'Arcy simply glazes over different parts of your wedding presenting the traditional stance and a few modern variations. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of room to write notes outside of the forms and lists themselves. The author does include some useful information as it relates to how those with blended families could write their invitations and how an engagement announcement can be written.

It contained phone numbers that were appropriate to the area and refrained from telling me how to plan my wedding. Best of all, it was not pink with bows and flowers and it was not bigger than a brief case. I was able to carry it in my purse and jot down ideas and registry notes without drawing a world of attention to myself. It has made being a bride easier and more discreet.

Wild Geese and Tea: An Asian-American Wedding Planner ASIN: 157322040X Customer's Rating: 1 Summary: Cultural Co-opting Comments: I bought this book, or rather I picked it out and, very nicely, my boyfriend/fiance paid for it, and it was really cheesy. A Chinese American woman wrote this book about how to gear your wedding to include some cultural aspects of one's ethnicity but the book is totally useless. She says stuff like "My fiance and I picked out invitations that had crances flying over a peaceful lake and instead of having traditional italics, we chose an ORIENTAL style of writing" First of all, Being asian is more that some cheesy cranes flying over a lake and no asian person invented that kungfu bamboo style lettering you see at take out chinese places. Also, what the heck is "oriental"? Uggh. This person doesn't seem to know that having or doing things as an Asian or Asian American would do them involves more than an invitation with motifs based on caricatures of what non asians think represent asian culture or apeing practices from the past if you don't carry yourself and think of yourself as Asian american or asian. I mean, a yak won shik (engagement ceremony/dinner) is normal if your friends and sisters and brothers and cousins and your future kids are going to do it and it has an affinity with the past and the future in your family, but when you do it to think it will give your wedding an "Asian" flair than that is when a culture is in danger if being co-opted for the mere opportunity to dress in costume and feel that you are more asian than you think you are. It's like thinking of a hanbok as a costume rather than as an item of clothing (albeit one that doesn't get that much use) in one's wardrobe. I'm about halfway through and am loathe to finish the rest but I hate to let the book go to waste. Anyway, a warning not to buy this useless, wedding industry, book.

It works best as a wedding keepsake - similar to those baby books. It only leaves room for absolute notes. You should already know the location, the date, the dress, etc. by the time you make any notes in this book. If you are still searching for locations, caters, the bridal dress, etc. and you would like to make notes on the various places - you can't with this book. Yes, they leave room for "notes" but that becomes very disorganize. You only have room for ONE name/address for each important category. I'm still glad I bought it but I will still need to buy another real PLANNER. This book, however, is conveniently spiral bound and with a beautiful hardbound cover. Sections are divided with 6 tabs (very helpful). A single slightly-expandable pocket in the back to add extra items. Although no calendar - it does break things down with a "to do" list in a monthly planner and a space for your own to do list. In a place marked "vital information" it has just that. You can write the name, address, contact, phone, etc. of the ceremony, officiant, photographer and anyone else you can think of that are needed for your wedding. This IS a wonderful, beautiful and HELPFUL wedding book - I just warn that this is only for those who already know mostly everything about their wedding plans.

A Wedding Planner ASIN: 1556708092 Customer's Rating: 3 Summary: A relatively useful but fragile wedding planner Comments: I bought this book when I became engaged last October, and I love how this book is organized. The tabbed sections make it very easy to flip to the section I want to work on at the time. I also like the check-off planning section. As I get things done, I can check it and move on. It gives me a nice sense of accomplishment. However, after only owning it for about six months, the binding started to fall apart. It's spiral bound with the cover glued around the book. The cover started to separate from the spiral binding early on, and now the cover is almost completely removed from the binding. Additionally, the back pocket is too small to hold a full size piece of paper. My other complaint with this book is that it is too regimented towards a very traditional wedding. Since my fiance and I are very non-traditional, we found ourselves writing N/A all over the book, and that makes it a rather unattractive keepsake. I am currently looking for a new book to transfer all my information over into.

I got engaged in September and felt completely clueless as to how to start organizing this huge event. A friend of mine gave me the Secretly Chic planner as an engagement present, and it has answered all my questions. This book not only lays out a timeline of when to get everything accomplished by, but it also has separate sections focusing on the gown; the bridesmaids; the music; the invitations; etc. Since I got engaged, I have come across a lot of different wedding planning books. Secretly Chic is the only one I've found that has all the information I need in one place, along with helpful hints that I would never have thought of. While many wedding planning books are extremely out of date, Secretly Chic is definitely geared towards today's brides and today's weddings. I started off feeling clueless on how to plan this wedding. Thanks to Secretly Chic, I'm happy to say that I feel like a subject matter expert now. If you are getting married, you can't do without it!

It did have some good questions to keep in mind and some very good organizational materials, but I also felt like 1-800-WEDDINGS were hyping themselves too much. (I work in advertising and still found it offensive). I was also upset that the "honeymoon" section had only two tabs-"Sandals" and "Hawaii". As if these are the only two places anyone would consider honeymooning. It just made me wonder how much Sandles was paying them to promote their resort. In the end, I took some pages from this planner and put together a better one for myself (the pockets did come in handy!). It was helpful, but it may not be everythng you need.

Comments: I was just searching for this for a friend and saw it was out of print--what a travesty! Like another reviewer, I examined countless wedding planning guides, which usually contained more fluff than substance. Even the venerable Martha Stewart has very little practicality in her planner. This book has everything, from a 1 year calender which gets more detailed as time goes by, to a place for the guest list that has convenient boxes to check off as you send the invitaitons, receive RSVPs, receive shower and/or wedding gifts, send thank-yous. They have spaces for researching dresses, for diagramming the reception site, for remembering what to pack with you on the blessed day. They have info sheets for you to photocopy for your vendors. They remind you of everything! If you don't want to forget a single thing in planning your wedding, and do it in an organized and calm manner, this is the book. And as an added bonus, it was inexpensive! Publishers, please republish this book. If you find it somewhere, buy it.

It t even recommend the most flattering dress style for different figures. It gives information about popular wedding flowers and their season of availability. It gives suggestions for wording on invitations no matter who is hosting. It has a checklist of neccessary bridal regisrty items. Another one of my favorite parts is that it gives thank you gift ideas for your attendants, and the parents of the bride and groom. I thought this made a terrific gift and has proved to be very, very helpful.

Perhaps it should have been made as a notebook -- so you could add your own paper as well. Overall ... a helpful book!
